"Making a difference, at all costs, for the sake of the Gospel."

Dr. R. Joseph Tricquet Jr., Brother Joby to most, comes to us from the northern Kentucky suburbs of greater Cincinnati, where he pastored the Fort Mitchell Baptist Church for three and a half years. Prior to his arrival in the Cincinnati area, Dr. Tricquet served as a pastor to churches in western Kentucky, Indiana, and the Opelika area in Alabama.

Dr. Tricquet, age 44, graduated from Samford University in 1987, with a B.A. in Religion and History. He continued his studies at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, TX, graduating in 1990 with a Masters of Divinity. In 2001, he completed his Doctor of Ministry at Samford’s Beeson Divinity School.

Joby met his wife, Cathy, while they attended Samford. They married just after graduation and they celebrated their 22nd anniversary this past June. Cathy is a native of the Birmingham area, having grown up in Pleasant Grove where her parents still reside.

They are the proud parents of three boys: Austin, Tyler and Jordan. In addition to keeping up with four boys (Joby included), Cathy serves as a preschool director, currently leading McElwain’s Child Development Center.

Though he was born in Tallahassee, Florida, Joby grew up in Albany, Georgia. It was in Albany, under the ministry of Sherwood Baptist Church, that Joby came to know the Lord at age eleven. He later answered the call to ministry at age fourteen.

Dr. Tricquet is an avid FSU fan and finds that his most desired getaway is anywhere the ocean meets the shore - two loves he credits to his Floridian heritage. Joby also enjoys reading, racquetball, and being involved with his boys’ sports and activities.
