Student Ministry

At McElwain Baptist Church, we believe that students are not the future of the church, but are the church. We hold students to a high standard, and we expect them to be fully involved in the life and work of the church. In order to help students grow and develop spiritually, we utilize several ongoing programs as well as special events and activities. Our ministry is in no way in competition with parents or a replacement for the spiritual guidance and teachings that students receive in their homes. We are here to augment and rinforce what parents are already teaching their children, and we are happy to assist parents in any way we are able. Please feel free to contact me with you questions, concerns, or suggestions.
Your fellow servant,
David Nalls, Student Minister

  • LIFE - Wednesday, 6:30pm - 7:30pm, meet in the Chapel across the street.
    • LIFE is our youth praise and worship service and is designed to meet the specific needs of middle and high school students. Our praise band leads in worship, we play games, have give-aways, and study God's Word. We have open gym after LIFE. Doors open at 6:00pm.
  • Small Groups - Sunday, 5:00pm - 7:00pm, meet in area homes
    • These are small groups designed to help our students dig deeper into the Bible. They help new Christians develop the basic skills they need to mature as Christians and push mature Christians to continue to grow in their faith. An adult leader facilitates these groups, and the groups and topics change regularly. These groups are hosted by homes near the church and coincide with the times of adult small groups to facilitate complete family participation.
  • Sunday School - Sunday, 9:15am - 10:15pm, Second floor of the 600 building
    • These Groups are divided by age and gender and help students learn how to study God's word. We cover a wide variety of topics and use many teaching techniques, including games, field trips, and discussion to help students understand the Bible. We always have breakfast before small groups.
  • Ministry Teams
    • We have ministry teams designed to help students use the girts and abilities God has given them. These teams minister in several different areas and hopefully every student can find a team in which he or she feels comfortable. We currently have a praise team that includes technical support and a puppet team that performs regularly both in our area and out of state
  • Special Events and Activities
    • Throughout the year, we have manny trips, retreats, fellowships, and other special events. These include 5th Quarters, lock-ins, camps, service projects, ski trips, beach trips, and much more.
